Goal

This guide will show you how to configure Ruckus Smartzone for SpotOn WiFi.

You will require a RADIUS password and a Custom URL from the SpotOn Support team. Chat with us, send an e-mail ([email protected]) or give us a call (050 211 5201)


  • Contact SpotOn for a new [CUSTOMER_ID] and replace this in the logon url and NAS ID further in this document

  • Go to Configuration → AP Zones

  • Create a new zone or select an existing one

  • Go to AP Zones → AAA

  • Click on ‘Create New’ and enter the following details:

Name guest-wifi-auth
Type RADIUS
Backup RADIUS [ ] Enable secondary server
IP Address 49.13.14.122
Port 1812
Shared Secret: Ask the SpotOn team for the RADIUS password
Confirm Secret: Ask the SpotOn team for the RADIUS password

  • Click OK

  • Click on ‘Create New’ and enter the following details

Name guest-wifi-acct
Type RADIUS Accounting
Backup RADIUS [ ] Enable secondary server
IP Address 49.13.14.122
Port 1813
Shared Secret: Ask the SpotOn team for the RADIUS password
Confirm Secret: Ask the SpotOn team for the RADIUS password

  • Click OK

  • Go to Hotspot (WISPr)

  • Click ‘Create New’ and enter the following details:

Portal Name guest-wifi
Smart Client Support none
Logon URL (x) External
Redirect unauthenticated user to the URL for authentication https://portal.spotonwifi.com/auth/vendor/[CUSTOMER_ID]/ruckus
Redirected MAC Format AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF
After user is authenticated (x) Redirect to the following URL URL of your choice
Session Timeout 1440
Grace Period 60
WISPr Location ID [CUSTOMER_ID]
Required domains Listed here.
Blacklist

clients1.google.com 
clients3.google.com 
connectivitycheck.gstatic.com 
connectivitycheck.android.com


  • Click ‘OK’ to save these settings

  • Go to ‘WLAN’ and select an existing or create a new WLAN configuration

  • Enter the following details:

Name guest-wifi
SSID Enter any name of your choice
Authentication Type Hotspot (WISPr)
Method MAC Address
Use user-defined text as authentication password (default is device MAC address) [ ] leave unchecked
MAC Address Format AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF
Method None
Hotspot (WISPr) Portal guest-wifi
Authentication Service [ ] use the controller as proxy: guest-wifi-auth
Accounting [ ] use the controller as proxy: guest-wifi-acct, Send interim update every 10 Minutes
NAS ID User-defined: [CUSTOMER_ID]
Called STA ID AP MAC
